Welcome! We are so excited to have you
in our classes this year. Below is
information that will be helpful to you
in third grade.
CLASS DOJOOur grade level will be using Class DOJO as our behavior system. Each student has a behavior chart, which can be accessed here. There is a DOJO reward chart with different rewards that students can "buy" with their DOJO points on Fridays. We also have Fun Fridays, which students can participate in if they have 80% or higher on their DOJO percentage each week AND have all work completed.

WORK
Third grade students DO have homework. They will receive both a math and an ELA homework page in their Monday folder. It MUST be turned in by THURSDAY of that same week. Late work is accepted, but points will be taken off. Repeated late work will result in loss of FUN Friday time.
Students will have in-class assignments that they are responsible for each day, and will be provided with time to work on them. If they are not completed by Friday, they will be given a 0%. Absent students are given an extra day for every day they were absent to complete their work. |
BIRTHDAYS |
LUNCH |
If your child would like to celebrate his or her birthday at school, please contact their homeroom teacher a few days earlier so that they can plan accordingly. Please remember that all treats need to be prepackaged and store bought. Students with summer birthdays can celebrate in May, or they can celebrate their half birthday. If your student would like to hand out birthday invitations, they will need to invite every student in the class. Please let me know if you need a class list of names.
We celebrate birthdays immediately following lunch, from 11:45 - 12:05. |
Outside foods (such as McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Subway, etc.) may not be delivered to students at school unless prior approval has been given by the building principal. Food delivered without prior principal approval may be dropped-off at the front office, but there are no guarantees the student will receive the food. Students will not be allowed to consume outside foods in the cafeteria serving area. Each building will have a designated "outside food" eating area. Due to issues involving safety and the well-being of all students (food allergies, etc.), outside foods may NOT be shared with other students unless prior principal approval and consent of the other students' parents is received. Parents will not be allowed to enter the school building to personally give dropped-off foods to their student(s) and the lunch period will now be closed to outside visitors and parents.

NEWSLETTERS & MONDAY FOLDERS
Each Monday, students will receive a newsletter about what we are doing in school. This will be in their Monday folder, which they are responsible for keeping track of and returning to school on Tuesday. We use these folders to send and receive graded assignments, homework, important notes, and permission slips. Please make sure to check your child's Monday folder each week.
